HTA has named the top seeds in the eight age divisions of the HTA Tennis Express Championship Major Zone tournament, which will be held July 9-10. Eight of the top seeded players are from the Houston area.
The USTA-sanctioned tournament, a major zone for championship players who are competing to achieve super championship status, has accepted 386 entries. The juniors will compete at six area sites, with headquarters at Lee LeClear Tennis Center, 9506 S. Gessner.
The No. 1 seeds in the boys championship divisions are: 18s—Tory Templin of College Station and Bryce Arvin of Houston; 16s—Isaac Whitley of Houston, Clark Crookston of League City and Alejandro Cuellar of San Antonio; 14s—Andrew Sall of Houston, Jake O’Donnell of Austin and Edwin Pua of Eagle Pass; and 12s—Stuart Simpson of Houston.
Championship girls top seeds are: 18s—Christine Schrader of Austin; 16s—Julia Thomas of Magnolia and Tabitha Tran of Pearland; 14s—Brissa Mendoza of League City and Sydney Williams of Austin; and 12s—Josephine Rousseau of Austin.
In addition to Lee LeClear, matches will be held at Homer Ford and Memorial Park tennis centers, Clements High School, Sienna Plantation and Lost Forest Racquet Club.
