Adrian Valdez of San Antonio and Rachel Janssen of Farmers Branch have been named the No. 1 seeds in the men’s and women’s open singles of the 2018 RBC Wealth Management Houston Open, which begins Friday, March 30, at several sites around the city. Lee LeClear Tennis Center, 9506 S. Gessner, is headquarters.
Valdez won the men’s singles in 2006 and 2014 and reached the semifinals last year. janssen won the women’s singles in 2014 and was a finalist the year before.
Seeded second in the men’s open is Anish Sriniketh of Katy. In the women’s open Christine Ngo Gwodog of Cypress is No. 2. She was a finalist in the women’s open singles of the 2017 Northside Lexus & Westside Lexus Fall Festival.
Women’s open singles finals are Sunday, April 1, at 9:30 a.m. at Lee LeClear, and men’s open singles are Monday at 9 a.m., also at Lee LeClear. A total of 524 players have entered the adult, senior and super senior divisions.

The tournament is presented by the Houston Tennis Association and the Houston Parks & Recreation Department. It is sanctioned by the United States Tennis Association and is a Texas major zone tournament for adults.
In addition to Lee LeClear, sites used for the tournament include Homer Ford and Memorial Park tennis centers, Lost Forest Tennis Club, Clements High School and the Houston Racquet Club.
