Top seeds have been named for HTA’s two-day Challenger Tournament, which will be held February 10-11 at four Houston tennis sites. Lee LeClear Tennis Center, 9506 S. Gessner, is headquarters.
Draws are limited to 32 players, resulting in multiple seeds in some age divisions. The youngsters earn points to qualify for championship status. Entrants total 280.
Top seeds in the boys age divisions are: 18s–Ven Naik of Sugar Land; 16s—Matthew Mills of Austin, Dakota Fernandez of San Marcos and Derek Young of Montgomery; 14s—Abhra Kundu of Cedar Park and Sergio Avila of San Antonio; and 12s—Mirthun Mohan of Jersey Village and Yugene Su of Austin.
Top seeds in the girls age divisions are: 18s–Eleanor Devetski of Houston; 16s—Reagan Canales of League City; 14s—Madison Love of Missouri City and Anna Gardner of Houston; and 12s—Jennifer Wang of Houston.
In a related tournament on Saturday, 55 10-and-under boys and girls will participate in a one-day Challenger event at Missouri City Recreation and Tennis Center.
