HTA has named the top seeds in the 12 age divisions of the HTA Championship Major Zone tournament, which begins Saturday, July 6. Four of the top seeded players are from the Houston area.
The USTA-sanctioned tournament, a major zone for championship players who are competing to achieve super championship status, has accepted 319 entries. The juniors will compete at six area sites, with headquarters at Lee LeClear Tennis Center, 9506 S. Gessner. A majority of the finals will be held Sunday at Lee LeClear.
The No. 1 seeds in the boys championship divisions are: 18s—Milan Fernandes of San Antonio; 16s—Lukas Rambo of Dallas and Joseph Gonzales of Houston; 14s—Patrick Beckage of Austin and Heintje Unson of Friendswood; and 12s—Brayden Nguyen of Austin.
Championship girls top seeds are: 18s—Haley McNabb of Cypress; 16s—Rishika Vemulapalli of Austin and Jordan Edwards of Plano; 14s—Jolin Ha of Sugar Land and Allison Monreal of San Antonio; and 12s—Sasha Miroshnichenko of Southlake.
In addition to Lee LeClear, matches will be held at Homer Ford and Memorial Park tennis centers, Lost Forest Tennis Club, Missouri City Recreation and Tennis Center and Clements High School.
