Please use the following form to make an online donation or pledge to the Houston Tennis Association. You can choose to make a one-time donation of any amount, or you can opt to become a Sustaining Donor and create a recurring donation every month, quarter, or year.

Sustaining Donors are vital to the HTA. Even if you choose to give a very small amount each month, even $5—just 17 cents per day—it creates a steady stream of funds that we can count on to support scholarship programs, National Junior Tennis & Learning, youth tennis Playdays, and much more.

If you are making a donation on behalf of someone else or for an organization, you can note that in the comment box Donations of $20 or more per year make you a full, voting member of the HTA.

The HTA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, and your donation is tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law. You will receive an email receipt with details about your donation.

Current Projects

Friends of Lee LeClear Tennis & Learning Center

The Houston Parks Board is pleased to partner with the Friends of the Lee LeClear Tennis Center, Inc. and the Houston Parks and Recreation Department to renovate the Lee LeClear Tennis & Learning Center. Opened in 1973, the Lee LeClear Tennis Center was the largest public tennis center in the US. It is still the primary public tennis facility in Houston. All major public statewide tennis tournaments and local tournaments are played at this facility and it is heavily used by local schools and the general public. After 45 years in operation, the Center is in need of a renovation.

The Lee LeClear Tennis Center is being renovated in three phases which are described below:

Current Status: Phase Three

Phase three will include the demolition of the existing building and construction of a new Tennis and Learning Center. The new building will house the staff that runs the Center and tournaments, provide space for educational programs such as the National Junior Tennis Program, and include a community area to host community activities. Also in this phase, we hope to include construction of a new drop off zone in the parking lot, modification of the sidewalks, a new practice wall, new fencing and new windscreens. Funds for this phase will come from funds raised by The Friends of the Lee LeClear Tennis Center, Inc., a 501 c3 non-profit. The project will be managed by the Houston Parks Board.

National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL) Program

HPARD’s Houston Youth Tennis Program (also referred to as the National Junior Tennis & Learning or HTA-NJTL) is a FREE, year-round program that offers basic tennis instruction to registered participants ages 4-18 (ages 6-18 during the school year). The program and instruction is offered at parks across the city. Participants are encouraged to take part in USTA Junior Team Tennis leagues and play in the annual Holiday Cheer Tennis Tournament in December. The Houston Youth Tennis Program is co-sponsored by the Houston Tennis Association, the
United States Tennis Association, and the Houston Ladies Tennis Association. You can also donate towards the annual Game Set Match Gala and Tennis Fashion Show.

West Houston Tennis Facility

The current major public facilities are Lee LeClear Tennis Center (LLTC), Memorial Park Tennis Center (MPTC), and Homer Ford Tennis Center (HFTC). Their current combined court capacity at these larger public facilities is 60 courts. The HTA, Houston’s Community Tennis Association (CTA) local arm of the United States Tennis Association, proposes building a fourth public facility for west and northwest Houston. The HTA aims to raise in excess of $5 million for the new project. HTA is very appreciative of the use of the city courts but feels that we can best serve the tennis community and public health by supporting this new expansion.

Scholarships

The HTA awards scholarships for High School Seniors (who are NOT attending college on a college scholarship) in the Greater Houston area who are entering college and have participated in high school varsity tennis and/or USTA Tennis Section tournaments. HTA has awarded more than $400,000 in scholarship funds to deserving high school seniors since 1992. Scholarships have been given in the memory of a loved one by many individuals, and companies and tennis-related organizations have given scholarship funds to encourage seniors to attend college.

Public Courts Project

From 2016 to 2023, the HTA donated over $301,000 to resurface the courts at public facilities in underserved areas (Lee LeClear Tennis & Learning Center & Homer Ford Tennis Center). HTA would like to continue improving public facilities, which further lends to our mission to grow the game in the Greater Houston Area.
