Draws are limited to 32 players, resulting in multiple seeds in some age divisions. Entrants total 388.
Top seeds in the boys age divisions are: 18s—TyAnthony Jones of Humble; 16s—Irving Logan of Houston, Ryan Cao of Sugar Land and Michael Barrett of Cypress; 14s—Patrick Sim of Spring, Teo Nogaret of Houston, and Kiertan Patel of Friendswood; and 12s—Caleb Guse of Sugar Land and John Butler of Houston.
Top seeds in the girls age divisions are: 18s—Shelby Perry of Katy; 16s—Emma Bayless of Humble and Chloe Chung of Cypress; 14s—Aeriel Kwan of Missouri City and Kaetana Mendoza of Magnolia; and 12s—Lucia Rodriquez of Houston and Rachel Sam of The Woodlands.
The juniors earn points to qualify for championship status.
In a related tournament on Saturday, 119 10-and-under boys and girls will participate in a one-day Challenger event at Lee LeClear and Memorial Park tennis centers and Missouri City Recreation Center.
