Michael Beautyman of Lake Worth, Florida, and Ivo Barbic of Atlanta, Georgia, have been named the No. 1 seeds respectively in the United States Tennis Association National Men’s 70 and 75 Indoor Championships, which will be held in Houston March 14-19 at the Downtown Club at the Met, 340 W. Dallas.
This is the fourteenth year the event, which has attracted 88 players this year, has been held in Houston and the eleventh year at the Met. Viewing is free to the public.
Jerry Thomas of Rockwall, Texas, and Hugh Thomson of Norcross, Georgia, are the top seeds in the 70 doubles. Barbic and Thomas Brunkow of Bethesda, Maryland, are No. 1 in the 75 doubles.
Finals of the events are Friday and Saturday. Keith Christman is tournament director.
