Nicholas Kamisar and Natalie Johnson dropped by Lee LeClear Tennis Center Easter weekend to pick up some points on their journeys to the men’s and women’s professional tours.

Johnson, Alcaraz

The former collegiate players, who entered the RBC Wealth Management HTA Houston Open on the advice of the USTA, won the men’s and women’s open singles divisions respectively.  Kamisar of Sammamish, Wash., the No. 1 seed, downed No. 2 Christopher Sioco of Houston 6-2, 6-2, and Johnson of Fontana, Calif., the top seed, defeated Susana Alcaraz of Houston, the No. 2 seed, 6-1, 6-0.

Their plan is to build on the major zone tournament points earned in Houston to increase their USTA ranking and earn ITF points.  Johnson will next compete in a USTA tournament in Orlando, Fla., and Kamisar heads to a California tournament for competition.

Prathirath Polepally of Katy, and Kristian Rodriquez of Houston won the men’s open doubles over Michael Clayborne of Houston and Omon Dibua of Spring 6-7 (5), 6-4, 1-0 (5).

Rachel Janssen of Dallas and Jacqueline Payne of Houston won the women’s open doubles over Alcaraz and Christine Ngo Gwodog of Cypress, 6-3, 6-1.

Alcaraz captured another trophy when she teamed with Brett Sticker of Beaumont to win the mixed open doubles over Payne and Sioco 6-3, 6-4.
