HTA offers scholarship grants to high school seniors

The Houston Tennis Association is accepting applications for several college scholarships to be granted to graduating seniors in the greater Houston area. The deadline to apply is April 28.

The scholarships, which range up to $2,000, will be awarded to high school students who have participated for at least two years in high school varsity tennis and/or USTA Texas tournaments or National Junior Tennis and Learning and who are not attending college on a tennis scholarship.

Scholarships available include those from the Houston Tennis Association, HTA NJTL, Steve Wolford Memorial, Chuck & Roberta LeMaster Husband-Wife Tournament, Fayez Sarofim & Co. U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championship, West Houston Ladies Tennis Association, the National Senior Women’s Clay Court Championships, Paul Christian Memorial and Harriett Hulbert Memorial.

Recipients are selected based on academic performance, citizenship and tennis experience. Financial need is a consideration.

The HTA has awarded more than $385,500 in scholarship funds to deserving high school seniors since 1992.
