Chanda Rubin will be the guest speaker at the Game Set Match Gala and Tennis Fashion Show Friday, February 7, at the Royal Sonesta Houston Galleria, 2222 W. Loop South.

HTA and Tennis Express will present the event, which raises funds to support the HTA National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL) youth development programs providing free tennis and educational classes and scholarship opportunities.

More than 7,000 students ages 4 to 18 are served each year at over 65 Houston area neighborhood parks and schools.

Sheila and Paul Adams are honorary chairs of this ninth annual event.  Lara Lehmann is the gala chair, and Rachel McNeill, former KPRC-TV anchor and now an anchor at the NBC affiliate in Phoenix, Arizona, is mistress of ceremonies.

Rubin is a former Grand Slam Doubles Champion and Olympian who reached a No. 6 world singles ranking in 1996 and won seven WTA tournaments during the late ‘90s and early 2000s.

After retiring from her tennis career she graduated cum laude from Harvard Extension School, married, started a family and established the Chanda Rubin Foundation in Lafayette, Louisiana, where she mentors youth and advocates for the value of education.  She is also a Tennis Channel broadcaster.

Tickets to the evening, which begins with a cocktail reception and silent auction at 6:30 p.m., followed by the dinner and tennis fashion show, begin at $175 for individuals.  Sponsorship tables are available from $2,000 to $20,000.
