The Houston Tennis Association is accepting applications for several college scholarships to be granted to graduating seniors in the greater Houston area.

The scholarships, which range from $1,000 to $2,500, will be awarded to high school students who have participated in high school varsity tennis and/or USTA Texas tournaments or programs. Students attending college on a tennis scholarship are not eligible to apply.

In addition to HTA contributions, money for the scholarships has been provided by the HTA/NJTL (for a National Junior Tennis and Learning participant), the National Senior Women’s Clay Court Championships (for a young woman), the Michael Horvath Junior Memorial Fund, the Steve Wolford Memorial Scholarship, David Scott Scholarship, Sean Rudolph Memorial Scholarship, World Oilman’s Tennis Tournament Scholarship, CSE W-Industries Excellence Scholarship and the Copperfield Racquet Club Scholarship.

Selection of students will be based on financial need, academic record, a personal letter explaining why the student deserves the scholarship, extracurricular and volunteer activities and two letters of recommendation.
